A. L. "Bill" Kobs Obituary
Long time Valley resident and business man passed away on June 8, 2009 in Spokane Valley after a battle with cancer. He was born on November 7, 1924 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Bill served his country in the Seabees, a branch of the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Guam, Saipan, and Tinian. He worked in the logging industry, and long haul truck driving for several local companies. In 1969 he purchased the Yardley Tavern. Upon retirement, traveling and fishing were top of the list. He loved the warm weather of Phoenix and spent most of his retired winters in the sunshine having fun. He leaves behind his traveling companion and wife of 43 years, Jackie. A large blended family of children . . . Bud Kobs, Grants Pass, OR, Cindy Huet, Lacey, WA, Buff Kobs, Coeur d'Alene, ID; stepchildren, Judy Hankins, Shelton, WA, Bill Tinsley, Susan Bippes, and Patti Hart, all of Spokane, WA; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. May you be welcomed by the loving arms of God, family and old friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
