Died early Sunday, September 6, 2009. He was born in Seattle on September 17, 1969. Alan joined the Air Force shortly after graduating from high school where he was an equipment specialist. Upon discharge he met and married
his wife of 17 years Patricia.
He graduated from Western Washington University in 1999 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Education and went on to teach Math and Science in California and Washington. After five years in California he moved his family to Alaska so they could experience a more peaceful and quiet lifestyle. Alan worked in Animal Control in Alaska until his diagnosis of brain cancer. His most cherished memories were spending time with his family and friends. Alan was a loving husband and father to his three children and enjoyed baseball, football, fishing, scuba diving, skiing and flying radio controlled planes. His dreams were simple, a loving family and to become a teacher and he achieved both. He is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Samantha Harwood; sons Spencer and Riley Harwood; parents Michael and Roxanne Harwood; sisters Nancy and Elizabeth Ann Harwood and brother Kris Harwood. Preceded in death by his grandmother Nora Turner; grandfather Wayne Tannahill and uncle Ken Tannahill. Memorial Service 1:00PM Saturday October 3, 2009 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 639 Elm St. Cheney, WA. The eulogy will be delivered by Larry Tannahill.
