Ardis "Ardy" Elizabeth (Speers) Albright Obituary
(Age 84)
Passed away November 11, 2009 in Newport, WA. Ardy took the hand of her lord and WALKED peacefully into his kingdom to meet her family and friends who have gone before. She leaves behind the trials and tribulations of a particularly tough year which she had faced with great dignity and strength. She was born on July 16, 1925 in Moorhead, Minnesota to James and Alma (Lerud) Speers. On January 12, 1947 she married James ?Jim? Albright. Ardy attended Concordia College where she was a member of the renowned Concordia Choir. She spent many years as a soloist in numerous churches throughout the Moorhead, Fargo area. In later years she was a member/soloist in Spokane at Central Lutheran and Ascension Lutheran churches and is a past member of Lutheran Women in Harmony. When forced by throat problems to retire from singing, Ardy turned her attention to coordinating the successful Shepherd Ministry as a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. She has been an active member of her beloved Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for the last several years. Ardy was a member of the Spokane Police Wives Association and enjoyed many years of friendship and activities during Jim's career as a Spokane Police Officer. The fond memories of travels to Canadian police events as well as those in Spokane have been highlights at family gatherings. Her employment at the Spokane Health Clinic and work in various sales and clerk positions is more than overshadowed by her many years as a devoted mother and house wife. For the last several years Ardy has lived a fabulous life of daily adventures and wonderful friendships at Fairwinds retirement community in Spokane. We couldn't be more grateful for the caring and love she was shown by the staff and management with special thanks to her "Fairwinds family", J.R. and Holly and all of her many friends. She has been an active member of the Sons of Norway, Corbin Senior Center, Retired Police Wives and served as a Deaconess Hospital Volunteer. This past year she has been in the care of the Newport Hospital Long Term Care facility. We are so touched by the love and compassion she was shown by her extended care family and incredible staff. Ardy has reunited with her loving husband Jim who left us in 1991. Greeting her with great joy are her parents, brothers and sister, family and numerous friends who have gone before. Ardy is survived by her proud and grateful children Randy (Kathy) Albright and Sandy (Allen) Lieske. Grandchildren Ed, Lucas, Molly, Annie, Raymond and Zach and their spouses/friends. She boasted of having four wonderful great grandchildren, the last one joining us in October to her extreme joy. She also leaves behind her close family, Mike and Dorothy Albright and Patty and Bruce Arendt, her loving nieces Denise, Charlene, Molly, Angela, Lisa, nephew Grant and their families. Joining Ardy in her life's journey, and sure to miss her presence, are her many long time dear friends for whom she has always had so much affection. As a family we deeply appreciate your love, kindness and support during these many years, with special thanks to her great friends Bob and Joan and Jon and Karen to name but a few. A memorial service celebrating Ardy's life will be held at 10 am
Monday, November 16th at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Rd.
We love you Mom, Gramma and Aunt Ardy.
