Barbara Sharon (Peck) Johnson

June 23, 1942 - February 06, 2010

Barbara Sharon (Peck) Johnson Obituary (Age 67) Resident of Spokane, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was born to Gordon Peck and Mildred Reynolds in Wallace, Idaho. Barbara eventually moved to Spokane and graduated from high school at Lewis and Clark. Barbara attended the University of Washington and returned to Spokane and went to work as a legal secretary for Ford Motor Credit. Given her interest in business, she began remodeling and renting houses in the Spokane area and she owned and operated Southern Lights Ceramics. Over the years Barbara volunteered at Jefferson Grade School, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, coached youth baseball, enjoyed squaredancing with "Fun and Fancy", performed for many years in the Ferris High School's "Ham on Regal", hosted Irish children in an exchange to reconcile religious differences, volunteered teaching ceramics to incarcerated adults and was a Master Gardener. Barbara was one of two children born, with her older brother William Peck preceding her in death. Barbara was the beloved wife of Lowell Johnson for over 38 years. Barbara will forever be remembered by her children Kim (Fred Kirschner) of Valleyford, WA, Kerry (Sheri) Johnson of Spokane, WA, and Lowell Johnson Jr. (Maria) of Kent, WA; as well as her treasured grandchildren: Shayne, Elijah, Lia, Allie, Joshua, and Benjamin. Along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her, she is survived by her companion Edwin Nestler. Barbara loved going to estate sales, gardening, doing crafts, being with her family, having fun with friends and finding a good deal. Barbara touched the lives of many people with her volunteer work and business associations. She maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at 4pm at Heritage Chapel. The family requests all donations be sent to Livestrong.org and Hospice of Spokane.
