Betty D. Smith Obituary
Passed away on April 26, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on 9/22/51 to David D. and Betty J. Smith in Wendell, ID. She was the 2nd of 5 children. Betty's childhood was spent mainly in Boise, ID. In the summer of 1963 she moved to Spokane with her family. She graduated from Shadle Park High in 1970. Betty then moved to Milton-Freewater, OR with her family and lived and worked there until 1984 when she moved back to Spokane. Betty was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, & sister-in-law and enjoyed spending time with her immediate family. Betty loved children and spent many years as a nanny for numerous families and treated all of them as if they were part of her own family. Among her many qualities were her thoughtfulness and compassion. If any family members or friends needed her you could find her by their side. She was the family caregiver in so many ways. We will always remember Betty's sense of humor and making us laugh. She is survived by her dad David Smith of Cabool, MO, mother Betty Smith, sisters Roberta (Bruce) VanZandt, Cheryl (Craig) VanZandt, Spokane, Annett (Randy) Deeney, Vancouver, WA brother Michael Smith of Boise, ID and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Betty's life will be held on May 2nd at 2:00PM at Southridge Community Church 2607 S. Ray Spokane, WA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Spokane 367 E. 7th Ave. Spokane, WA 99202 in Betty's memory.
