November 20, 1985 - July 13, 2010

Brooke Alisha Porter Obituary (Age 24) Our sweet Brooke passed away on July 13, 2010 to a peaceful and pain-free world. She was born on November 20, 1985 to James and Cheryl Porter in Orem, Utah. Since her first day of life, Brooke has battled from the effects of cystic fibrosis. On July 13, 2002 she received a miraculous gift, a liver transplant. This gave her a second chance, allowing more people the opportunity to be influenced by her infectious laugh, sparkling personality, and zest for life. Each year, on that day, her family has celebrated that blessing. She had been waiting for a double-lung transplant. But, on July 13th, exactly eight years since her liver transplant, she passed on to another life. Brooke has lived in Spokane for 15 years. She graduated from Ferris High School in 2004. She then pursued photography at Spokane Falls Community College. Brooke came with an inherent understanding and faith in God which has sustained her through some challenges. She was known for her happy submission, never complaining. Brooke was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We thank those in the community who have prayed for and served her so unselfishly. Particularly, we thank the many doctors, nurses, and all who patiently cared for her. Brooke will be missed by her parents, James and Cheryl Porter, her brothers, Tyler, Trenton, and Mitchell, as well as extended family and friends. The funeral honoring Brooke Porter will be held Saturday, July 17th at 5:00 p.m. with the viewing beginning at 3:00 p.m. The services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' chapel located at 1620 E. 29th Ave, Spokane.
