Bruce Myron Watson Obituary
Bruce Myron Watson was born in Kalamazoo, MI in January 1926 to John and Marian Watson and passed from this life into eternal rest on March 18, 2015 at Royal Park Care Center. He lived a very full and adventurous life. He graduated from high school in 1944 and 3 weeks later joined the Air Force Cadet Training at Chanute Field AFB in Illinois.
Bruce was married to Trudy Bell and in 1954 while they were living in Germany they adopted their son David. He took pleasure in league bowling and fishing with his son.
He enjoyed his 25-year military career working in administration for the Diplomatic Corp living in Venezuela, Mexico City, MX, Amarillo, TX, Germany and Colorado Springs.
After retirement from the Air Force, Bruce joined Safeco Insurance in Burlingame, CA. After leaving Safeco, he joined Fireman?s Fund Insurance, as an underwriter, in San Diego, CA. He was transferred to Spokane where he made his home. He met Lavone Kuhn in December 1990 at a square dance in the Spokane Valley. They were married in June of 1991 and had a wonderful 23 years together. They traveled around the USA in their 5th wheel ending up in Arizona for the winters. They took many trips to Hawaii and Italy and loved to cruise. They made many friends wherever they were. Because of his love of travel, Bruce volunteered many years for the Spokane Visitors Center. He was a member of the Dancing Shadows Square Dance Club and First Presbyterian Church. In October of 2013, he was thrilled to go to Washington, D.C with the Honor Flight.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, his three siblings, Margaret, Joyce and Leonard, and his first wife, Trudy. He leaves behind his wife, Lavone, son, David (wife Sue and step-children Eric Young and Seana Boyd, and step-great grandchildren) of Nine Mile Falls, nephew, Bruce Lee (Stephanie) Sanguinetti of Genoa, Nevada, sister-in law, Jean Watson of Plant City, FL, and step-children, Karen (Jerry) Walters, Linda (Greg) Benoit, and Tom (Jill) Kuhn, all of Spokane and Steve (Sue) Kuhn of Jersey City, NJ and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Bruce was a humorous, kind, gentle and generous man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, Spokane, WA.
