Caryl (Marcus) Marker Obituary The love our lives fell asleep on Thursday, September 16, and woke up in heaven in the arms of Jesus. Loved and cherished by her family, Caryl was called home far too soon and will be greatly missed! After the death of her first husband, Darwin Marcus, Caryl found love a second time when Fred Marker, whom she adored and was happily married to for 12 years, came into her life. She loved sports, especially golf and tennis. She and Fred spent winters in Mesa, AZ where she proved herself a top competitor playing in the Arizona Senior Tennis Recreation League. Their lives took a turn two years ago when Caryl was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease/ALS. Even through this journey her unshakeable faith never wavered and her tender spirit enriched the lives of everyone she encountered - none more so than her belovedfamily who were the center of her life. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and friend happily doing things for others, never expecting anything in return. Life will never be the same without her. Caryl is survived by her husband, Fred Marker; her children - Daryl (Nancy) Marcus and Karen Hyde; her stepchildren - Monty (Jamie) Marker, Jeff (Connie) Marker, and Rodney Marker (deceased); sisters - Alice Craddock and Sandi (Larry) Fulton; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her name to the Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Foundation and Hospice of Spokane. A memorial will be held Tuesday, September 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E. Broadway, Spokane Valley.
