Cora "Chris" Sonnenberg Obituary Cora passed away on July 8, 2009, just a few days short of her 80th birthday after a debilitating battle with lung cancer. Born in Bellingham, WA on July 24, 2009, she was the second of four children born to George and Dora Cobelens. After graduating from high school she went on to obtain her nursing degree from St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham. She entered the Air Force in 1952, and became a Captain serving in Japan during the Korean War. Later she was stationed at Fairchild AFB where she married and had five children whom she raised alone after her divorce. She is survived by her sisters Mary Cobelens and Pat Vivolo; three of her children: Mary Lou Nadreau, Laura Ford, and Paul Sonnenberg. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 3:00PM.
