DeLoris A. Johnson Obituary (Age 84) DeLoris passed away on February 19, 2016 at Sunshine Gardens in Spokane Valley, WA. She was born in Douglas, ND on April 4, 1931 to Ira and Alma Fox. DeLoris was always a busy girl. She loved music and played 4 different instruments in the school band and graduated in 1945 from Minot High School (Minot, ND). She met the love of her life (Lyle L. Johnson) on a 2 week visit in 1950 to see her aunt Stella and her cousin Gordon Curry (who brought his best friend Lyle with him to pick her up at the train station). They were married on June 30, 1951 in Spokane. DeLoris worked for McGovern-Carroll Insurance Company from 1951-1972, working full time even after she and Lyle went into the masonry contracting business and went on to be very successful; completing many large projects (ie: Mt Spokane High, The Jundt Building at Gonzaga University, STA Plaza, Spokane Intermodel and many of the buildings at WSU). Mom was also very proud of her Norwegian heritage but her first love was family, and she was always there for her family. She and Lyle were members of the Coast Guard Auxillary, Gethsemane Lutheran Church and was very active with the Inland Empire Masonry Contractors Association. DeLoris was preceded in death by her husband Lyle Johnson in 2006, parents Ira and Alma Fox, Oliver and Martha Johnson, and brothers LeRoy Fox and Gaylord Fox. She is survived by her daughter Becky (Russ) Hendrickson) of Greenacres, WA and grandsons Kile, Bard and Shane Hendrickson, daughter Debby (Todd) Brunner of Edmonds, WA and grandsons Joe and Lyle Brunner, sisters Mina Ross of Spokane, Sandi (Sam) Archer of Independence, OR, sister-in-law Jon Marie Fox of Minnesota and her cousin Gordon Curry. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to give a special thanks for the loving care provided by the staff at Sunshine gardens over the past 5 years and most especially for their time and loving care over the last days of mom?s life. You are truly angels on earth. A Funeral Service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 10:00AM.
