Ellis Ray Venable Obituary (Age 80) Passed away September 12, 2009 at the Hospice House in Spokane, WA. He was born in 1929 in Lonoke, Arkansas to Jessie Venable and Amanda Tackette and was the oldest of eleven children. Ray retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and then worked at Montgomery Wards until his retirement in 1985. He loved golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and many friends. Ray is survived by his second wife, Maria Knowles Venable of twenty nine years; daughter Linda Schaber and her husband Bob of Spokane, WA; sons Randy Knowles and wife Ruth of Hayden, ID and Clyde Knowles and his wife Sue of Florida. Together they have seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Ray was kind, loving, and generous to everyone, and will be greatly missed. Viewing will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, September 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A service will be held on Friday, September 18, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Chapel located on Fairmount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Hospice House.
