Elvira C. McCoury Obituary Elvira C. McCoury passed away on July 5, 2009 at St. Joseph's Care Center in Spokane, Washington. She was born in Lake Park, Minnesota on May 18, 1917 to Otto and Emma Skoien. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years M. Wayne McCoury. She was a resident of Spokane since 1959. She is survived by her son David McCoury and his wife Ren, daughter Janice Richardson, and Wayne's oldest son Col. (Ret) USMC Melvin W. McCoury and his wife Olive; grandchildren Marla Winters, Mathew McCoury, Christopher Richardson; great-grandchildren Sadie Winters, Emily and Joseph McCoury; one sister, Lorraine Van Erem of Fargo, North Dakota. Elvira and Wayne raised two foster children, Laura and Jeannie Braaten; and three foster grandchildren Nancy, Renee' and Karen Markell. From Elvira's early life she was a devoted Christian actively participating in Lutheran Churches wherever she lived. Elvira's life was about giving to others when she saw the need and she could make a positive difference with God's guidance. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Heritage Chapel.
