October 12, 1953 - May 25, 2011

Emilie Elliott Hamilton Obituary Passed away at her home in Spokane May 25, 2011. Born October 12, 1953 in Washington DC to Dorothea Elliott Hamilton and William Mason Hamilton, Emilie was the fourth of five children. The family followed her father to military posts around the world during her early years. Emilie graduated from the Berlin American High School in 1971 and spent the next several years as a young vagabond traveling around the middle east and Mediterranean before moving to the backwoods of north Idaho. It was there that she met her life partner, Arnold Walker. In 1982, they moved to Spokane. Emilie worked as an administrative assistant for the Spokane International Airport for the past 14 years. Emilie was a voracious reader, formidable Scrabble-player, and avid movie-watcher. She enjoyed theater, live music and the arts and could be counted on to support local events. A woman of strong convictions, Emilie supported progressive and feminist causes and candidates with her time, talent and treasure. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law Mason and Jayne, and her beloved partner, Arnold Walker, who died in 2006. She is survived by her sisters Susan, Judy and Dodie, several nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of loving friends. We will miss you. Friends are invited to join together for a memorial service and celebration of Emilie's life: Saturday, June 25 at 5pm Hamilton Photography Studio, 1427 W. Dean Ave., Spokane. Food and music to follow. Potluck dishes are welcome and musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho.
