Frieda Gertrude Jacholkowski Obituary
Passed away peacefully May 18, 2013. She was born on January 9, 1922 in Golasowice, Poland to Augustyn and Joanna Firla. The oldest of 13 children.
In 1939 when Germany invaded Poland Frieda was taken from her family to a labor camp. She later escaped to Austria where she met her husband John Jacholkowski.
Frieda & John came to the United States of America in 1951 for the opportunity of a better life for their family. Frieda had a deep love of America - She especially loved to celebrate the 4th of July.
Over the years Frieda enjoyed working in her garden, taking care of her many fruit trees and feeding the birds. She was a member of Emmanuel (All Saints) Lutheran Church. She loved to knit and crochet things for the family. Loved to cook and bake Polish desserts. She enjoyed playing Le Millski with her kids, grandkids and winning.
Her husband John died in 1973; Frieda is survived by several sisters and a brother in Poland; her five children: Leokadia & Rick Fielding of Yakima; Evelyn & Maynard Ross of Spokane; Joel & Sandy Jacholkowski of Spokane, Erwin Jacholkowski of Spokane and Jerry Jacholkowski of Spokane. Nine grandchildren: Wendy, Maynard Jr., Scott, Carla, Brooke, Johnathan, Joshua, Janette, and Ron. Ten great-grandchildren: Caleb, Dade, Damian, Olivia, Nicholas, Colton, Dylan, Mason, Shaelyn, and Andy.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Fairmount Memorial, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave, Spokane, on Saturday, June 1st at 11:00 am. The Reverend Alan Eschenbacher will be officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
