Grant Elton Gregerson Obituary (Age 91) On February 14, 2016 at 11:05AM, our father, grandfather and great-grandfather left us to keep a Valentines date in heaven with his wife of 50 years, Sylvia. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were there to give him a loving send off as he opened his eyes one last time and then stepped into the arms of Jesus. Grant fought a hard battle against Parkinson's Disease for the last 5 years and succumbed to pneumonia as a complication of the disease. Grant was born and raised in Inchelium, WA on December 31, 1924 to Gunder and Mina Amelia (Johnson) Gregerson. Later he lived in the Addy area along with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. In 1945, Grant left school after the 10th grade to help tend the farm and later joined the Army and served overseas in General Pattons armored division until 1946. After the war, he married Erma Lanners and with her had 3 children, Johnnie, Janet and Jean. Erma preceded him in death. Grant worked for Kaiser/Mead Works for over 32 1/2 years. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling in the RV and time at the lake with family and friends. Upon marrying Sylvia (Iverson/Hill) in 1963, five more children, Alan, Mark, Casey, Dianne and Eva, joined the household. We find it amazing that they all survived living in a small house on E. Crown Ave in Spokane. Survive and thrive they did! At the time of his passing, at 91 years old, Grant is survived by 8 children, 2 sisters Verla and June, 15 grandchildren, at least 38 great-grandchildren, numerous foster grand and great-children and many honorary grandchildren. Grant and Sylvia played an important part in the lives of many, related or not. Grant is preceded in death by his first wife, Erma. His second wife, Sylvia, his brothers Ted, Ralph, Cliff and Robert. Grant was a member of the Spokane Eagles, and various Kaiser bowling leagues. He and Sylvia attended Garland Avenue Alliance Church and enjoyed the lifelong friendships they made there. Memorial service will be held at 4PM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Heritage Funeral Chapel. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Grant, please visit our Tree Store.
