Jacklyn Ann (Gifford) Strawn Obituary (Age 59) Passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at her home in Tacoma after a 17 year battle with multiple brain tumors. She was born to Don and Helen Gifford on May 13, 1951 in Spokane. Jackie graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1969 and from Eastern Washington University in 1972, then stayed home to raise four children. In high school she danced with the Silver Spurs. Jackie ran an in-home daycare, was a substitute teacher and taught ESL courses prior to becoming ill. She was also always very active in her church. A longtime resident of Spokane, she lived the past seven years in Tacoma. She was preceded in death by both parents and a nephew. She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years Jim Strawn; her children Rachel (Denny) Brown, Matt (Angela) Strawn, Sarah (Doug) Falstad and Dan Strawn; brother Ralph (Barbara) Gifford; sister Joyce (Jack) Mason and six grandchildren. A special thanks to Libby Laird as she has helped care for Jackie the past year and a half, and to the caregivers from Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 29, 2010 from 2-6pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N Government Way with funeral services on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 1pm in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley.
