James L. Jewell Obituary (Age 83) Passed away at his home on Saturday, August 14th, 2010. He was born in Kalispell, Montana, on July 19th, 1927, to Lester and Eva Jewell. In addition to his parent's Jim was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy York, special lady, Gladyce Colburn, and siblings Eva Winney, Betty Hastings, Bob Jewell, Ron Jewell and Peggy Caspersen. A surviving sister, Patricia Walter and her husband, Don, reside in Spokane, along with Richard and Connie Cismowksi and numerous other nieces and nephews. Jim had a wide variety of interests, which included fishing, woodworking, dancing, and music. In his later years he especially enjoyed recording music in his small studio. Another hobby involved his love for wood projects and Jim had a full library of "Router Workshop". As a working man, Jim spent 43 years with the railroad, beginning with the Great Northern and ending with Burlington Northern. His occupation was briefly interrupted when he was drafted and sent to Korea in 1951 where he served as a camera repairman. Jim was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose and also attained the 32nd Degree in the Masonic Lodge, serving as organist for many years and was a member of the Scottish Rite. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 19th, 2010 at 1:00 PM in Heritage Chapel. Thank you to Hospice of Spokane, Keepers With Care, and all of the caring doctors and nurses that tended to Jim's needs. We are truly grateful that you came into his life.
