James Robert "Bob" Ruggles Obituary (Age 74) Bob lost his courageous 15-year battle with cancer on November 12, 2010 surrounded by his family, at his farm in Medical Lake, WA. He was born in Colorado on July 4, 1936 and graduated High School in 1954. Bob joined the Air Force in 1955. He was stationed at Fairchild AFB, WA where he met his wife Sandra Phillipson (Skip). They were married October 24, 1958. He was an Airman 1st Class when he left the Air Force and joined the Washington Air National Guard in 1965 and was stationed at Fairchild AFB, and Eielson AFB, AK. He retired as a Senior Master Sgt. He was a true American and was honored to serve his country and protect the Red, White, and Blue for 36 years. After retirement he and Skip moved to the farm in Medical Lake, WA where he raised cattle and harvested alfalfa till 2008 when his cancer treatment forced him to stop. He missed it every day. His family and friends meant everything to him, and he often spoiled them with his famous bar-b-que ribs, salmon, roast, and his special breakfast "awful waffles" for his grandkids. Bob is survived by his wife Skip; daughter Debi Doan (Grant); son Lee Ruggles (Lisa); grandchildren Johnathan Sherwood (Cassie), Taylor Doan, Indy Ruggles, Carson Ruggles; sisters Francis Parr (Floyd), Billie Carpenter (Don), June McDowell (Clyde); brother Jack Ruggles (Dorothy); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Patty Funk, two brothers Eugene and Glen, as well as an infant sister and brother. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 3rd at Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the VA Hospital.
