Janice Mae Steen Obituary Janice Mae Steen (86) was welcomed into this world on January 19, 1926 by her parents William (Thorne) and Alma S. Grimmer and her brothers Edward and Robert and sister Laurine. On January 10, 2013 they all welcomed her into Heaven. On August 2, 1947 she married the love of her life, Donald J. Steen, who has been awaiting her arrival in heaven since April 30, 2005. Janice graduated from North Central High School in 1944. She worked for Burgan's Furniture store and then for her Dad at Grimmer Transfer, where she got re-acquainted with Don. She was a member of ABWA for many years, and active with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. She and Don enjoyed travelling, camping, boating, hole-e-board and bowling for many years with family and friends. Janice brought smiles to all with her sponge cakes, practical jokes and terrific sense of humor. Don and Janice welcomed 4 children into this world. The oldest, Daniel, has been waiting for them to join him since he was 3 days old. Then came Julie, Gary and Carol. Julie lives in Fairbanks, Alaska with her husband, Ken Converse and their 4 sons, Jeremy, Jason & Carla and their son Noah; Jonathan & Amity and their daughters, Gracie, Kaelee & Abigail; and Joshua.
