(Farewell to you my beloved, Jean, until we meet again)
Jean M. Nathaniel, beloved wife and mother, was called to Heaven on May 15, 2010 after 75 amazing and wonderful years. She passed away at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, WA surrounded by the love of her family, both those at her bedside and those with her in their prayers for her from distant locations.
Jean was born on Aug 21, 1934 in Honolulu, Hawaii where she met and married her devoted husband, Harry K. Nathaniel of Hilo, Hawaii. In her life she travelled and lived in many places to include Japan, Germany, and the United States. She lived through times of peace and times of war; anxiously waiting for her beloved spouse to return safely to her and her family from the battlefield. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring nurse, solid friend and happy neighbor. To all that knew her, she was a wonderful person who enriched their lives by her presence and made the world a better place for all around her.
Jean is survived by Harry K. Nathaniel, her devoted and loving husband of 55 and a half years. During that time, Jean and Harry were only separated for 18 months due to relocation and a war ? a considerable achievement for a military couple with 27 years of service. Jean has 5 surviving children, 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Her youngest child is Darryl Nathaniel currently of Reno, Nevada. The family of her oldest daughter Terry Webb includes husband Elliott; son Nathan and his wife Jessie; and daughter Jeanine Webb-Banks, her fianc? Patrick Banks, and their daughter Melina Banks. Her son Duane?s family includes wife Leslie and their children Robert, Alexis, Elizabeth, Kaila and Kalea. Son Barry?s family includes wife Keiko and their children Chris and Leia. The family of Jean?s youngest daughter Harrianne Dominguez includes husband Luke; daughter Katy; sons Matthew, Justin and Adam; and Adam?s daughter Ashlynn Berg. Jean was preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Alice; sisters Janice and Audrey; and her brother Maurice. Her surviving siblings are Marvin, Allison, Ellen, and Myron.
A viewing will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Friday, May 21st. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Rd, Spokane Valley, WA on Saturday, May 22d at 10:30 AM. There will a public viewing preceding the service at 9:30 AM and a reception following the service at 11:30 AM at the same location. Granddaughter Katy Dominguez will offer her special gift of love to her grandmother by dancing the hula ?The Prayer? as part of the service.
A separate gathering to celebrate Jean?s life will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday evening at Evergreen Fountains Senior Community, 1201 N. Evergreen Rd, Spokane Valley, WA and a memorial service for her friends and neighbors at Evergreen Fountains will be held on Sunday, May 23rd at 2:30 PM.
Jean?s ohana requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to your favorite charity in Jean?s name.
