Jeanne Vivian (Rowlands, Gruver) Gonos Obituary
Jeanne passed peacefully into heaven on June 22, 2010 in Spokane, Washington. She was surrounded by love, kindness, and beauty, which are also the three words that best describe her and the life that she lived. Jeanne was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on June 25, 1925 to Thomas & Betty Rowlands. She developed a talent and skill for many things, but two of her favorites were baking, and roller skating. Jeanne went on to do what she enjoyed spreading love and kindness to those that crossed her path not only to the people she encountered working at the little clothing store in her neighborhood, but to her family as well. She married Harry Gruver in January of 1947 and they raised three children, Jackie, Jo Ann, and Jeff. After her first husband passed away, she married Harry Gonos on September 25, 1995 and moved to Glendale, Arizona. Remaining there until 2009 when they moved to Spokane, Washington. She is survived by many that will miss her. They include her husband Harry Gonos and her children: daughter Jackie, her husband O. Crosby Sparks, and their son Travis; daughter Jo Ann, her husband Kenny Mateyu and their daughter Heather, who married David Phillips and their children Josh, Jeffrey, and Jaeson; son Jeff Gruver and his daughter Jeanna along with her daughter Ahmahz; step daughter Kathy Wurz and her daughters: Jenny, who married Scott Hurd and their children Kayla, Kody, Jake, Katie, Emily, and Noah; Pam, who married Donnie Johnson and their son Silas; Beth Wurz and her daughter Faith. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, June 29th at Riverside Memorial Park located at 508 N. Government Way at 2:30pm in a graveside service. Heritage Funeral Home can be contacted at (509) 838-8900 for more information. In lieu of flowers her family is asking that a donation be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association - www.alz.org. Jeanne's husband and family would also like to say thank you to Dr. Eric A. Sohn and all the caring staff at Alderwood Manor Life Care Center for their help in taking such wonderful care of Jeanne. Finally, the family would like to thank Jeanne's loving husband Harry, who never missed a day for almost four years visiting Jeanne at the care center to make sure she was given every opportunity to enjoy her day starting at 7:00am when he helped get her day going to the end of the day when he made sure she was tucked in for the night. Harry's faithfulness was a daily testimony to the love and sacrifice that Jesus showed for us and it brought joy and hope to those around him.
