Joy Beverly (Farrier) Rose Obituary (Age 80) Joy Beverly (Farrier) Rose, 80, passed away May 14, 2013 at home. She was born on July 9, 1932 in Cheney WA to Ted R. and Virginia (Wolfe) Farrier. She was the wife of John (Jack) Rose. She is survived by her family, John and Kim Rose of Bigfork, MT; Jeri Lee Sigurdson of Kalua-Kona, HI; and Jay Rose of Spangle, WA; sister Joanne Cohen; sister Linda Piekut; step-sister Nancy Wolf; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Joy attended Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane where she met Jack. They were married October 28, 1949. When Jack enlisted in the Navy, the couple moved to Long Beach, CA. In 1958, they moved back to Spokane and opened Magic Muffler in the Spokane Valley. Over the years, the business grew to five locations known as Discount Muffler, with Joy as the business bookkeeper and busy mother of three. Joy was involved in racing with Jack. She raced mini-sprint cars and in early days, she was the Inland Empire go-cart champion. In 1979, Joy began her second career as an artist. She became a well-known potter and sold her work in galleries throughout the Northwest. When pottery became physically difficult, Joy turned to another talent, watercolors. She specialized in flowers, landscapes, greeting cards and pet portraits. Joy's life was her husband, Jack. They were married for more than 63 years and rarely separated. "Nana" loved her home, her family, her artwork and long walks with their dog along the country roads where they lived. A private burial will be held.
