Katherine "Aunt Katie" V. (Walker) Ness Obituary After a wonderful life of 95 years, Katie passed away peacefully on July 3, 2009 at the Hospice House in Spokane. Katie was born October 25, 1913 in Green Bluff, WA to Floyd and Frieda Walker, the oldest of six children. On February 17, 1942 she married the love of her life, Raymond Ness. Together they had a daughter, Pamela. They spent 43 happy years together before Ray passed away in December 1985. Katie worked for 38 years at JJ Newberry's before retiring in July of 1975. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing with Ray and spending time at their cabin at Priest Lake picking huckleberries and fishing. She also enjoyed playing pinochle with her friends of the Welcome Wagon. Katie was an avid WSU fan and particularly enjoyed watching Cougar football and basketball. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, sisters Margaret Holmes and Irene Lund and brothers Wayne and Melvin Walker. She is survived by her daughter Pam and sister Evelyn McGinnis along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She will be greatly missed by her large family and many friends. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, July 10th, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home; graveside service to follow. Visitation will be Thursday, July 9th, 2009 from 12-5 p.m. Donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210 or Priest Lake Search & Rescue, PO Box 78, Coolin, ID 83821. I love you Mom and will miss you terribly. Have fun dancing with Daddy again!
