Leonard J. Woods Obituary (Age 98) Passed away on October 16, 2015 at his home in Spokane, WA surrounded by loved ones. He was born on May 5, 1917 in Rockford, WA to Roy and Mattie Woods. In 1942 he joined the Army Air Corp as a Chemical Specialist where he was awarded the Bronze Star for an innovated change on the gas mask. While stationed in Essex, England he met and married Virginia Valco. Leonard worked as a construction millwright and retired in 1982. His family knew, �If he couldn�t fix it--it couldn�t be fixed.� He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 2, seldom missing a Sunday dance. Leonard enjoyed fishing, camping, four-wheeling and tinkering in his garage. At age 93 he took the Honor Flight to Washington DC. He is survived by his daughters Lorraine (Michael) Berarducci and Rita (Rick) Herwig; 3 grandchildren Dena and David Berarducci and Lisa Thompson; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Genova Loomis and Evelyn Carr and numerous nieces and nephews. Leonard is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Woods; brother Lee Woods and great-grandson Dustin McCartney. Visitation will be from 10am-1pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at 2 pm at Riverside Memorial Park.
