LeRoy Dale Flatt Obituary
(Age 79) of Spokane, WA, died Sunday, November 8th at his home in Airway Heights, WA. LeRoy was a lifelong educator who was always ?teaching?. He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. LeRoy was born in Tacoma, WA, October 3, 1930. He grew up in Twin Falls, ID. LeRoy loved the outdoors (hunting and fishing) and played football and baseball. After college in Linfield, OR, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1954 with the 93rd Periodic Maintenance Squadron as Staff Sergeant, he performed his duty with much pride. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John D. Flatt, Lula E. Flatt, his wife Donna R. Flatt and son Daniel R. Flatt. LeRoy is survived by his sons, Michael Flatt, Airway Heights, WA, John Flatt (Ann), Spokane, WA; daughter Cindy Reames (Southwick, Flatt), Medical Lake, WA; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. LeRoy then began working a career as a high school teacher in Newport, WA., then moved on to Central Valley School District. He taught Music (Choir) and later Drivers Education. He had many students who all remember, ?Mr. Flatt? (as they called him). He loved watching his children and grandchildren play football and attended all their games. LeRoy began taking a new direction in his life after the passing of his wife. He started taking dance lessons, meeting people and making new friends. Come spend some time with the family. We?ll share our memories and pay our respects to our father, grandfather, uncle and friend, LeRoy Dale Flatt. A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 12 to 5 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Services will be held November 16, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home, at 1 p.m. with burial at Fairmount Memorial Park (military honors), and a celebration of his life at the Eagles Lodge, 6410 N. Lidgerwood, Spokane, WA from 3 to 6 p.m.
