Lillian Ruth Hemighaus Obituary (Age 88) Ruth went to sleep in Jesus love on June 16, 2016. She was born to Christopher and Lydia Ott in Schwenksville, PA on November 6, 1927 and was number 5 in a family of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Hemighaus. Her first 68 years were spent in PA and then Ruth and John moved to Spokane to be closer to their children. After John�s death in 2010, Ruth moved to Lewiston, Idaho for five years and the past year has been spent in Spokane. Ruth was involved in many activities serving and helping others. In addition to their own 5 children, Ruth and John were foster parents for many years and received awards for their outstanding care and love toward the foster children they cared for. Ruth was very active for many years as a volunteer at community service centers in PA and the Better Living Center here in Spokane. She also volunteered until a year before her death at the Lewiston Community Center and food bank. As the daughter of a florist, she seemed to have an inborn love of flowers and had beautiful flower gardens at all her homes. Ruth was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and was involved for many years in various church activities, providing outstanding bible school programs and classes for children. Ruth loved to cook, entertain and host group gatherings. Her family remembers her as always being busy in the kitchen during those times. Ruth is survived by her five children: Judy McCain of Spokane, WA, John Hemighaus of Three Forks, MT, Jane Wilkinson (Mel) of Woodburn, OR, Mark Hemighaus (Vicky) of Colton, WA and Janet (aka: Mueller) Manson (Frank) of Salmon Arms, British Columbia, Canada; along with 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Brookdale North for the care and love she received while a resident. The humor Ruth and the caregivers shared will always be remembered by her family. Also, a special thanks to Hospice House North for such compassionate and tender care during this difficult period.
