Mary Magi Obituary
On March 19, 2009, Mary passed away at her home. Mary was born in Vienna, Virginia on April 1, 1924 to a Dutch nurseryman and an American homemaker. The white lilacs found on White House tables in the 1950s came from her father's nursery. Mary began her career as a secretary but soon found strong distaste for that work, shifting her focus to nursing, becoming a registered nurse in 1950. She married Eino, a naturalized US citizen from Estonia, in 1951. Together they built a family and a medical practice in the Washington, D.C. area. Mary's life was centered around family and nursing. In Mary and Eino's later years, they enjoyed traveling, dancing, fishing, and visiting with friends and family. They moved to Spokane, WA in 2000 so they could be closer to family. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Eino, who died in May, 2007. She is survived by two sons, Enn of Riverside, CA and Eric of Spokane, WA; along with six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Mary's frequent laugh and welcoming spirit will be missed by her family and friends. A Memorial Open House will take place on Sunday, April 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For directions call 838-2128.
