December 31, 1925 - June 29, 2015

Pearl Halpern Obituary (Age 89) Pearl passed away peacefully on June 29, 2015 with her two sons and niece Anna at her side fulfilling her last wish to come home to Spokane. She was born and raised in New York City by her two parents, Sophie and Benjamin Baskin, along with her two older siblings Sam and Ida. As a child she loved family, music and dance. These would become her life long passions. She was a beautiful woman and was very proud of being the runner up Miss Atlantic City 1947. She met our father in a resort in the Catskill Mountains, our dad always telling us how all the heads would turn when she walked into the room. His obviously did and they were married in 1953 in New York City. After the birth of their two sons Barry and Lloyd they relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she devoted her life to raising her young children in a loving and supportive home. She later began a career as a real estate appraiser until her retirement at the age of 65. She and our father loved Florida, having spent their honeymoon there, and after their retirement they became snowbirds and spent the winters there. Because both their sons had relocated to Spokane they sold the home of 33 years and moved to Spokane in 2001. They loved it here and they built a home in Liberty Lake where she has lived until this day. Our Dad, Martin, passed away in June 2013. Pearl was incredibly brave in her battle against shortness of breath as she became ill in the last years of her life. Her love for music, dance and art has had a profound effect on us. The greatest gift Pearl gave to us was her loving relationship with our father. For this we are eternally grateful. She is survived by her son Lloyd and his family Carmen, Crystal, Kelsi, Rachel and Lindsey, son Barry and his family Sue, Max, Sam and Anna, niece Suzanne Charny, great niece Stacy Scholder and four great-grandchildren Jaxon, Xander, Judah and Eden. We will all miss her dearly. Funeral Service 10AM Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Heritage Chapel followed by a graveside service at Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
