Richard Denis Knutsen Obituary Richard Denis Knutsen was born in Bellingham WA on April 9, 1927 to Lewis and Anna Knutsen. He passed suddenly on November 7, 2015 into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Upon graduation from Bellingham High School, Denis joined the US Navy and served in an LST squad in the Pacific. He married Irene Gray in 1949 while both finished their degrees from WSU. Denis and Irene moved to Spokane in 1953. He began working in the hotel administration industry and eventually became a local freight driver for the remainder of his career. He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest sister, Gen Closson, and granddaughter Amber Knutsen. Denis never met a stranger and even after an Alzheimer's diagnosis, he kept his endearing sense of humor and caring attitude towards his family and fellow man. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and a man of deep faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Irene and his children, Louanne (Wes) Graham, Chad (Pam) Knutsen, Christopher (Lori) Knutsen, Robert Knutsen, Wade (Stephanie) Knutsen and his sister Lois Swanson. His nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2:00PM at Salem Lutheran Church 1428 W Broadway Ave. Spokane WA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Salem Lutheran Church.
