Robert "Bob" Edward Donald Miller Obituary
Died unexpectedly May 21st 2009 while working in Shelby Montana. Bob was born July 4th 1938 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He and his wife Donna immigrated to the U.S. in 1964 to attend university in Utah. Bob graduated in 1969 from BYU with a degree in Geological Engineering. During his professional career Bob worked in several US states and Canadian Provinces and served on the Board of Directors of a number of mining and energy companies both public and private. He also served on the Board of Directors for a local Spokane credit union. Bob never approached a job as work, instead he felt challenged and was creative in the solutions he developed to job related problems. He was very innovative and late in his career he developed several organic pet products which are being marketed and sold throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Bob had a great zest for life and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all whose life he touched. Bob spent his spare time building toy trucks and doll cradles which were dispersed at Christmas thru local charities in the area particularly the Catholic Charities of Spokane which he greatly admired for the work they do with single mothers. He was a longtime member of Whitworth Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Society of Sigma Gamma Epsilon and the North Hill Masons Lodge.
Loving husband, father and grandfather he leaves behind Donna his wife of 48 years; his son and daughter-in-law James and Nanette Miller granddaughter Lydia; daughter Judi Miller and her long time partner Dan Heberer, daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and Scott DeWaide grandchildrenJordan Stoddard, Jarrett and Sydney DeWaide and daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Matt Barton and grandson Keagan - all of Spokane, WA; sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Garry Jones Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Viewing will be held Thursday May 28, 2009 from 2:30 - 5 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday May 29 at 1 pm at Whitworth Presbyterian Church with a reception following in Tiffany Hall. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Whitworth Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund or the Catholic Charities of Spokane Single Parent Program.
