Robert "Bob" L. Campbell Obituary
Robert "Bob" Campbell passed away peacefully on December 3 surrounded by his wife and family. Born in Colville, Washington in 1924, Bob spent most of his life in the Spokane area, making Spokane his home for the past 46 years. After graduating from Colville High School in 1942, Bob served for three years in the Army Air Corps on a B17 flight crew during WWII before pursuing his career in teaching and marrying Jean Chapman, his wife of 62 years. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from Eastern Washington University. Most of his early years of teaching and coaching sports were spent at Colville Junior High School. In the last 18 years of his career, Bob taught math and science and coached sports at Havermale Junior High School in Spokane before retiring in 1981. Bob was known for his devotion to his family, his work ethic and his love of the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Jean Campbell; his five sons, Dale, Ron, Doug, Randy and Dan Campbell; his two daughters, Lori and Julie Campbell; four grandchildren, Mary Hutchinson, Alison Bronzini, Brandon Campbell and Shannon Butler; and eight great-grandchildren, Dustin, Chantel and Kaienne Hutchinson, Kristina and Connor Campbell, Rhyann and Savannah Butler, and Joey Bronzini. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Lola Hardy and Gwendolyn Amsbury, and a grandson, Brian Campbell. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of sending flowers, the Campbell family requests that donations be made to the Northwest Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Spokane.
