Roger L. Mize Obituary
(Age 68)
Passed away in Spokane on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. He was born in 1942 in Wenatchee and grew up in Spokane. Roger graduated from Mead High School in 1961 and served in the Navy aboard the USS Alamo from 1962- 1965, during the Vietnam War. After leaving the Navy, Roger moved to Vancouver, WA and started a family while working at Weyerhauser. After several years, he returned to Spokane where he worked for Sonderen Packing for thirty one years until his retirement in 2004. In 1990, Roger met the love of his life, Sandy. The two families joined into one and they spent the next twenty-plus years enjoying each other and life. Roger loved hunting, fishing, golf and cooking (especially BBQs). After retirement, Roger volunteered at Holy Family Hospital from 2005 until 2010. Starting as just a volunteer, his final position was the President of the Volunteer Auxiliary. Roger is survived by his wife, Sandra Mize, sons Robert E. Lee Mize, Troy Lee Mize, Rodney Leon Mize, and step-son Michael R. Frady all of Spokane, daughters Tina Le'Ann Henline of Post Falls, ID, step-daughter Laura A. Gilliam of Coperscove, TX, brother Kenneth L. Mize of Spokane, sisters Barbara L. Olson, Judy K. Awbery and Jackie K. Whitney all of Spokane, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Lee Mize and Gladys Neoma Mize. The world was a better place to live in with Roger in it. He will truly be missed by all that knew him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Corliss Newman and staff, Deaconess Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital and the Inland Northwest Blood Center. To all the people who have donated blood, thank you. You make a difference. All of you have given us the greatest gift of all - more time together. Please make a donation in Rogers name to Inland Northwest Blood Center. A time of visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, November 29, 2010 from 10 am to 5 pm. A funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 11 am.
