Ruby M. Lake

May 20, 1916 - March 15, 2009

Ruby M. Lake Obituary On March 15th, Ruby M. Lake entered into rest, having spent the last year of he life as a resident at Classy Retreats. She was born on May 20, 1916, in Spokane, Washington, to Rasmus and Olina Nelson. She and her twin sister, Opal, were the fouth and fifth of six children. She attended Grant Elementary School and graduated from lewis and Clark High School in 1935. She married Jack Lake on March 6, 1939. Ruby and Jack and seven children: Peggy (Joe) Paulson, Milaine (Ned) Bester, Rodger (Jaki) Lake and Leanne (Dennis) Stallings of Spokane, Barbara (Ray) Rupprecht of Sherwood, OR; Fred (Linda) Lake of New Plymouth, ID; and Wally (Liz) Lake of Bremerton. She was an active parent, receiving a Golden Acorn award for her service to the PTA. After her children were all in school, Ruby attended Spokane Community College and received her AA degree in nursing. For several years she work as an LPN at Deaconess Hospital. She retired from nursing to travel with Jack, who was employed by the Bonneville Power Administration. They traveled extensively throughout the states of Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. The cruised through the Panama Canal, traveled by train across Canada, and cruised the Caribbean. Anyone who met Ruby and Jack knew that they were the loves of each other's lives. They enjoyed 62 wonderful years together until Jack's death in 2001. She is also preceded in deathy by her parents and sisters Ruth and Esther. Ruby is survived by her sister Molly Meredith of Vancouver, WA; brother martin Nelson of Tamicula, CA; and her identical twin, Opal Andrews, of Spokane, as well as her children, 13 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The family extends its thanks to Classy Retreats, who treat their residents like family. A Funeral Service will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, on Sunday, March 22nd., at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ruby's memory to Second Harvest Food Bank or a charity of choice.
