Sean Michael Stanelun

Sean Michael Stanelun Obituary (Age 48) Born in Cranston, RI June 21, 1961. Died January 23, 2010 at Sacred Heart Medical Center of complications following pancreatic surgery and necrotizing fasciitis. Sean loved his two children and wife, was a compassionate son and cherished brother. He owned and operated Manito Video Productions in Spokane, specializing in wedding videos. Sean previously worked for KREM-TV as a news videographer. He also worked for KING-TV in Seattle, WOOD-TV in Michigan, and USA Today near Washington, D.C.. Sean won awards including an NPPA Award for Best Regional Feature. He grew up in Bellevue, WA and graduated from Interlake HS. He had a BA in Communications from Aquinas College, Grand Rapids, MI. Sean wrestled in high school and played soccer through college. He also spent two seasons in Alaska on a crab boat. Sean drew strength from his family and wide circle of community during his four and-a-half month hospitalization. With his easy-going manner, kindness and wry sense of humor, Sean connected with strangers who'd later become friends. Sean is survived by his wife, Dawn Picken, daughter, Fiona, son, Finley, mother, Jackie Nelson, sisters Stephanie Holttum and Michele Stanelun, and brother, Steven Stanelun. Public memorial at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral in Spokane, 2 p.m., Sunday, February 14th.
