Shirley A. (Day) Trimble Obituary (Age 80) Passed away January 2, 2010 at Manor Care in Spokane. She was born at Sacred Heart Hospital to Jack and Alma Day on April 18, 1929. Growing up, Shirley's home was within walking distance of Grant Grade School where she attended school during her early years. Her home was also within walking distance of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist to which she belonged all her life. There she was active in several guilds and participated in various charitable activities. Shirley graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1947, after which she studied at Whitworth College, earning a degree in education. She taught school in St. John and Connell before her marriage. In June of 1958, Shirley married John Trimble in the Cathedral. They moved to Hawaii where they lived for about a year before returning to Spokane where they have lived ever since. The Trimbles had three children, Shelly, Jim and Tom. The day to day job of raising the kids fell to Shirley, as John's work kept him out of town about two weeks each month. Fortunately, Shirley's parents lived nearby and were very helpful during those early years. When the children were finally in school, Shirley returned to college and earned a degree in Library Science, this enabled her to serve in the libraries of several District 81 schools. In November 2004, Shirley had hip surgery and never fully recovered from that and other complications. Since then, until her passing, she resided at Manor Care. There she received the very best of care and was blessed by having a devoted and loving staff. Shirley was a loving mother and wife. She is survived by her husband John; children Shelly and Randy Fuller of Bothell, WA, James and Arlene Trimble and grandsons Karl and Ken of Olympia, WA and Tom Trimble of Kent, WA. She is also survived by three nieces and a nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Joan. Visitation will be Friday, January 8th from Noon to 5:00 PM and Saturday, January 9th
