Passed away on February 4, 2010 in Spokane, WA. She was born on September 19, 1931 in Las Vegas, NV to Ernest L. and Clara
Elisabeth May (Richardson) Culbertson. Shirley went to McLane Grade School in Olympia, WA from first to eighth grade and then moved to Spokane, WA. She attended Lewis and Clark High School from ninth to eleventh grade. She met Robert A. Vulcano and they were married on July 9, 1949. They had three children: Michael, Sandra and David. She worked various jobs such as Pacific NW Bell, Housekeeping at Deaconess Hospital, assistant cook at ONB Bank cafeteria, housecleaner for rich people's mansions, assistant cook and dishwasher at Valley Bowl and was Spokane District 81 Matron at Rogers High School, Lewis and Clark High School, Ferris High School, Shadle Park High School and Sacajawea Middle School. She worked as a cake decorator and then returned to work at Valley Bowl where she retired. She loved to fish, camp, horseback ride, was an excellent swimmer, bowler, and painter, she took pride in her home, flowers and garden, she liked to play games like pinochle and was Aggravation Queen. She liked watching Matlock, Perry Mason and CSI on television. She was a loving wife, mother, friend and had no enemies. For three years Shirley was taken care of by her daughter Sandra Lee Foredyce at Sandra's home. Shirley was baptized as a Born Again Christian and was a volunteer for DSHS putting in 350+ hours of quality time in their office. She got along with everyone with no judgments. She was a smart, intelligent, caring,loving woman of all trades. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1989, son Michael A. Vulcano in 2009, sister Florence Booher Culbertson in 2009, brothers Jim Culbertson in 2006 and Larry Culbertson in 2007. She was survived by daughter, Sandra Lee Foredyce and companion Wade Goss, Spokane, WA; son David A. Vulcano and wife Maurice, Spokane, WA; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Culbertson, Owen Culbertson; sisters, Clara Graeff, Dorothy Brandner; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Nurse Michelle from Hospice and all other workers in the time of need. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 12 to 5 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to her daughter Sandra Lee Foredyce, 516 S.
