Terry Lee Novak Obituary (Age 68) Passed away August 15, 2009 in Spokane. He was born September 1, 1940 in Chamberlain, SD to Warren and Elaine (Gropper) Novak. Terry obtained a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from South Dakota State University, a Masters in Public Administration and a Doctorate in Political Science/Public Administration, both from the University of Colorado. He married Barbara Ellen Hosea, a deacon in the Episcopal diocese of Spokane, on August 29, 1981 at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Terry has served as Assistant City Manager of Anchorage, AK; City Manager of Hopkins, MN, Columbia, MO, and Spokane, WA; Vice President of Business and Finance at Eastern Washington University and Chair of the Graduate Program in Public Administration; Dean of Extension Activities at EWU; Director, Joint Center for Higher Education and Riverpoint Campus; Interim Director for Riverpoint Campus on behalf of Washington State University; and Professor, Graduate Program in Public Administration at EWU. He served on the following boards: Spokane Public Development Authority, Spokane Area Economic Development Council, and Sister Cities Association of Spokane. Terry was a member of numerous professional, political and local community service organizations. He was author of numerous publications, articles and book chapters on Public Administration, panel and speech presentations. He has received numerous civic and educational awards for outstanding service in the public sector. Terry is survived by his wife Barbara, Spokane; mother Elaine Novak, Rapid City, SD; sisters Carole (Jack) Binger, Rapid City, SD, Janice (Steve) Neimiller, Easton, PA, Linda (Dale) Zikratch, Los Angeles, CA, and Susan (Fred) Weeks, Walnut Ridge, AR; son David (Fiona) Novak and granddaughter Isabella Novak, all of Melbourne, Australia; niece Stephanie Neimiller, Atlanta, GA, and nephews Chance and Range Weeks, Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his father Warren Novak and son Stephen Novak. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday,August 27, 2009 at 6:00pm at the College of Business and Public Administration, Riverpoint Campus, 668 N. Riverpoint Blvd., Phase I Classroom Building, Auditorium Room 122, Spokane. Another Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 3:00pm at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., Spokane. Memorial Contributions in Terry's name may be made to the following: The Stephen R.
