In 1980, on the Feast of the Annunciation, she was ordained a priest by The Rt. Rev. Joseph Heistand, then Bishop of Arizona. She served congregations in the dioceses of California and Olympia, WA, before being called to the Diocese of Spokane as Rector of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Spokane Valley, WA in 1986. In 1994, Jackie became a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and resigned from parish ministry due to her health. She became Board Certified in Professional Counseling in 2007 after having been a member of the American Psychotherapy Association since 1997. She continued to see people for spiritual direction and pastoral counseling until the Spring of 2008 when her health deteriorated once again. In addition to her professional life as a nurse and priest, Jackie shared many hobbies and activities with family and friends. She was particularly fond of traveling, interior decorating, sewing and gardening.
