Virginia "Jean" Lee Berry Obituary
(Age 86)
On Friday October 30, 2009, Jean passed into peaceful rest. Jean was born on September 29, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Harvey Schaub and Sally Light. She was lovingly raised by her half-sister Alta and brother-in-law Bill Booth in Southern California until her marriage to John C. "Jack" Berry on June 14, 1946. Shortly after their marriage, Jack and Jean moved to Spokane, Washington. It was here that Jack and Jean made their home and raised their family until the time of her death. Jean owned and operated "Jean's Beauty Shop" out of the basement of her home for over 40 years. She and Jack loved to travel in their RV and were members of the Good Sam's Club for many years. She was an "expert" navigator and could lead Jack to the doorstep of any destination. Jean loved crafts and painted many beautiful pictures that her family will cherish for years to come. Jack and Jean were long-time members of Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the many wonderful friendships they developed over the years within in their Church Family. Jean's greatest joy in life was as wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She never missed a birthday or the opportunity say how proud or how much she loved us. We will miss her dearly and love her always! Jean is survived by her devoted husband Jack, with whom she shared her life for 63 years. She also leaves behind her loving children Clifford (Margaret) Berry and Linda (Terry) Teats. She was the "best grandma ever" to Howard Berry, Stacey (Jeff) Rose, Tressa Scott, Leanna (Duane) Wheeler, and Irene Gilliam. Jean also delighted in her role as great-grandma to Alora, Joshua, Tori, Darien, and Kyera, never missing the chance to spoil them with her hugs and kisses. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Lola(William) Fyfe, Alta (Bill) Booth, half-brother, Clarence Wright, and daughter-in-law Marilynn Berry. The family wishes to thank Jean's care providers at Regency Care Facility for their expert and gentle care over the last two years. A Funeral and Graveside Service will be Tuesday, November 3, at 11:00AM at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley in Spokane. A reception will immediately follow at Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church. For those that wish pay their respects, a viewing is scheduled for November 2, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Heritage. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church.
