William "Bill" H. Deering, CMSgt. Ret. Obituary Bill went to be in the loving arms of his Savior on Friday July 17, 2009. He is remembered for being a strong man of faith, which touched the lives of so many during his life. Bill was born on November 23, 1933 in Popple River Wisconsin. He was born in a log house and grew up on a dairy farm. His mother passed away in 1941 when Bill was 7 years old and he was raised by his father and with the help of his older siblings. It was during his childhood that he accepted Christ as his Savior and grew in his walk with the Lord. It was Bill's passion throughout his life that all would come to know the love, peace and joy that comes through salvation in Christ. Bill graduated from Gillett High School in 1952. During his junior year, he met the love of his life, Adelin Herzog. It did not take him long to realize that she would be his one and only love. Bill enjoyed sports, participating in football, baseball, track and field and shot put. He lettered on the varsity basketball team as a freshman and was a starter the following 3 years. Bill achieved the league's MVP award during his senior year. After a short career at Linwood Plywood Company, Bill decided to serve his country and enlisted in the Air Force. During his training, he asked for Adelin's hand in marriage and they were wed on August 8, 1953. In 1954, their first son, Michael was born while assigned to the 343rd FG in Duluth, MN, Jeffrey was born in 1956. Bill's family was the treasure of his life and he always had time for them wherever his career took him. Bill's military career covered a variety of positions including supervisor of the maintenance of electronic aircraft components and all shop personnel. He was stationed at many locations internationally, including Itazuki in Japan, Ubon in Thailand and Torrejon in Spain. In the US, he spent time at Griffiss in NY, KI Sawyer in MI. His last assignment was at Fairchild in Spokane, WA, where after 30 years of service, he retired as Chief Master Sergeant. Bill served the Lord at Trinity Baptist Church, where he worked as administrator from 1985 - 1998, and served in many other areas. He served as a board member of Northwest Conservative Baptist Association for 6 years. Bill and Adelin went on mission trips to Africa and the Czech Republic. They enjoyed traveling during their retirement. Bill is survived by his high school sweetheart, Adelin Deering, two sons and their wives; Michael Deering (Dee) and Jeff Deering (Debra); his sisters; Arlene Milhans and Beverly Balaban and brother Leonard Deering (Anita); in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted family members. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Alice Deering; brothers, Ralph, John Jr, and Paul; sisters, Dorothy, Luella and Iris. A celebration of his life with military honors will be held on 25 July, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church, 6528 N Monroe at 2:00 PM. Donations may be given in his honor to Trinity Baptist Church.
