Adeline R. Collins

September 12, 1929 - February 03, 2016

Adeline R. Collins Obituary Adeline passed away on February 3, 2016 in Spokane, WA. She was born on September 12, 1929 into a family of eight children in New Leipzig, ND to William and Katherina Reiger. She learned English when she started school ? her parents being German immigrants from Southern Russia. After high school graduation in New Leipzig, ND, Adeline took a job as a secretary and bookkeeper at the Bismark Tribune. That went well ? but having come to Christ in her teens she had a strong desire to study the Bible. At age 21 she quit her job and went to Portland, OR and began a three year course at the Multnomah School of the Bible. While there she met a young man named Hugh Collins, who was a visiting ministerial student from Whitworth College in Spokane. Time passed, friendship developed, studies continued and in 1956 Adeline graduated from Multnomah and Hugh from Whitworth. An engagement followed with a surprise diamond being placed on Adeline?s finger during an outing to the top of Mt. Spokane. Missionary service was in view and more studies would be required ? Adeline at BIOLA College (University) and Hugh at Talbot School of Theology in California. Yes, there was time for a happy marriage in Long Beach, CA (June, 1959). The couple was commissioned by World Ventures for service in France in 1962 and retired in 1992. Adeline is survived by her husband Hugh Collins, daughters Beth Ann Marson, Marilee Luttrell, sons-in-law Ray Marson, John Luttrell, granddaughters Alexandrine Perkins, Arianna Perkins, sister-in-law Edith Collins and numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will take place at 11 am on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Riverside Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 pm at Trinity Baptist Church, 6528 N Monroe, Spokane, WA. A personal word from her husband, ?Goodbye, Adeline, I miss you greatly! I know where you are and will come to be with you in God?s time.?
