Adrian "Tex" Loncon passed peacefully at home in Spokane, surrounded by family, on September 22, 2011. Tex was born on September 20, 1934 in Port Arthur, TX to Alier and Eve Loncon. He was the youngest of six children. Tex was preceded in death by three sisters Amy Theriot, Hazel Duett, AllieBell Hebert, and his brother, Ray. He is survived by his sister, Audrey Bonin. Tex is also survived by his wife Rita; sons Larry (Beverly), Garry (Karolyn) and Tim, eight grandchildren - Derrick Self, Stacey Larson (C.J.), Ashley Carbonatto (Blake), Amy Loncon, Brandon Bishop (Tori), Ryan Bishop, Aaron Loncon, and Nicole Loncon - and seven great grandchildren. Tex and Rita "adopted" Barb Page (Al) later in life. Tex enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951 and was relocated to Geiger Field in Spokane. He served in the Korean War. While still in the military, Tex met the love of his life, Marita "Rita" Fuhriman, from Rosalia, WA, and the two were married on September 3, 1955. Tex retired in 1997, after a distinguished career in the emergency medical services industry in Spokane. Tex will be known for becoming the first paramedic in Spokane, and one of three in the State of Washington. His career highlights include becoming part owner of Spokane Ambulance in 1979, state certified paramedic instructor, and instructor at the Spokane Police Academy. In post retirement, Tex continued his entrepreneurial spirit in the local transportation industry with the purchase of Spokane Cab, (now known as Spokane Dispatch) which is owned and operated by his son, Larry. In order to stay active in the summer months, Tex served as a valet at Northern Quest Casino for the past five years. Tex and Rita spent the last 16 winters at Viewpoint Community in Mesa, Arizona. Tex enjoyed playing golf, cards with friends, and served as a starter at the Viewpoint Golf Club. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 34th & Perry, Spokane, WA.
