June 13, 1920 - June 16, 2013

Agnes E. Mellon Obituary Shortly after dawn on June 16, 2013, just two days after her 93rd birthday, Agnes Mellon completed her memorable journey to heaven. Agnes was born in Norma, North Dakota on June 13, 1920, to Jens and Johanna Nelson. She was the fifth of six children, raised on a wheat and dairy farm outside of the town of Kenmare. After graduating high school she married Gerald Mellon of Kenmare and soon moved to Spokane where they started their family of four boys and two girls. In addition to managing a busy household, Mother worked at a number of jobs over the years. She ultimately found her calling in the field of reflexology. Helping people by therapeutic massage of their feet became her passion and ministry of service to so many. Over forty plus years, she touched countless lives (and feet) with many testimonials of healing along the way. Agnes was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry in 1980 as well as each of her five siblings. She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Larry and Janet Mellon; Tim and Judy Mellon; Kelly and Cindy Mellon; and Susan Kelling, all of Spokane; Lynell and Tony Norman of Stevensville, MT, and Danny and Linda Mellon of Sun City West, AZ. Mom?s remarkable legacy of love will be carried on by her 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 3423 E. Carlisle, Spokane. Interment will follow at St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Trentwood. Viewing will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The family requests that donations be made to Fairview Assisted Living-?a truly wonderful place of care that was Agnes? home for her final six years. The family is deeply grateful to her amazing caregivers at Fairview and for the loving guidance of Horizon Hospice.
