June 17, 1924 - October 10, 2017

Agnes "Peggy" May LaPlante Obituary (Age 93) It is with great sadness that the family of Agnes 'Peggy' May LaPlante announces her passing. Born on June 17, 1924 passed away comfortably at home with her family on October 10, 2017 at the age of 93. Peggy was born in Portland, Maine where she lived most of her early years until she met the love of her life, Larry. Larry and Peggy were married on February 13th 1947 and shortly after started a family. Larry rejoined the United States Air Force. They enjoyed the military life, traveling and living in various locations before settling in Spokane, Washington. One of Peggy's favorite places they lived was in Japan where she was very active in the Air Force wives NCO Club. Peggy had many lifelong friends from their time in the service. She loved to travel and spend time at the casino as well as playing cards with her family. She also liked to camp and fish. She enjoyed attending the Spokane Civic theatre and anything involving her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities. She always loved her food and there was nothing to her quite like an ice cream social or a nice steak cooked to barely warm on both sides. Shortly after retirement Larry became ill at which time their eldest daughter Erlene 'Cheryl' moved in with them to help take care of him. Cheryl stayed with Peggy after Larry's passing and later became her primary care taker until Cheryl's passing on August 1st of this year. After Larry's passing in 1978, Peggy went to work for the Guild School and later for School District 81 working with severely disabled children. Peggy never drove and would take the bus back and forth every day. She loved working with these children and still has pictures of them in her jewelry box today. Peggy enjoyed her family very much. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were what brought her joy right up until the very end. Her family and chocolate. Preceded in death by her loving husband Larry and their eldest daughter Cheryl. Peggy was also preceded in death by an infant granddaughter April. Peggy is survived by her daughter Lori Morin (Dominic), son Garry LaPlante (Kay) and daughter Patricia Ethier (Michael); grandchildren, Lynn Steppe (Christian), Kenny Steppe (Mary), Peggy Crane (Brian), Garry LaPlante Jr. (Andrea) and Marie LaPlante (Bob), along with 11 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Derek, Carson, Ryan, Natalie, Weston, Madilynn, Amelia, Kendon, Maisee and Beatrice. Visitation day will be from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Tuesday, October 17th at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service in memory of Peggy LaPlante will be held Wednesday, October 18th at 1:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Chapel. Internment will follow across the street at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Peggy's name to Hospice of Spokane or the American Cancer Society.
