Alden Henry Fitch Obituary
Alden Henry Fitch, 87, formerly of Potlatch, died February 11, 2020 in Spokane after an extended illness, graduating to his heavenly reward. Alden was born 18 March, 1932 to Henry J. and Grace E (Rogers) Fitch near Wanham, Alberta, Canada. In 1937 the family returned to their property near Potlatch, Idaho, where he attended Rock Creek country school, and graduated from Potlatch High School in 1949. He graduated in Dairy Science from the University of Idaho in 1953, after which he served for three years as lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He married nearby neighbor Maeona Melissa Brentlinger in 1954; they had two children Ann Elizabeth and James Alden. Beginning In 1956 they operated a dairy and registered Guernsey cattle operation on the family farm near Potlatch for three years, and for the next 14 years at Enumclaw, Washington. While there, Alden became a Washington food inspector. Alden and Maeona divorced in 1981. He moved to Spokane, and married Janis Gemmill in 1986. He retired from the Washington State Department of Agriculture in 1996. Alden was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Luther and his sister Lyndell. He is survived by sisters Elizabeth (Fitch) Webb of White Salmon, Washington and Clelia (Fitch) Callihan of Potlatch, Idaho, brothers Byron of Ritzville, Washington and Duane of Dalton Gardens, Idaho, children Ann and James, wife Janis, stepchildren David Taylor, Julie Knecht, Jerry Hall and Gene Hall, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During his illness, he was compassionately and lovingly cared for by devoted friends Justin and Megan Merritt. Alden was committed to his Lord Jesus Christ, and looked forward to meeting his heavenly Father. Burial is scheduled for 1:30 P.M. March 4 at Medical Lake Veterans?
