Alexander Paul Engle

Alexander Paul Engle, was born on January 21, 1992 in Poway, California. The third
child of us, James and Karen Engle. Alex was a happy baby that liked to be on the move and started roaming around very quickly; as he grew he became more and more inquisitive and continued to love exploring.
He was a great student and enjoyed school. He went to Kirkland SDA elementary school and Puget Sound Adventist Academy. During high school he discovered a love for soccer and band. He was a captain of the soccer team his Junior and Senior years, being voted MVP his Senior year. He did percussion in the band and was awarded the Directors award his Senior year. He went on the school mission trip to Belize and loved connecting with the people there and of course eating new food. He continued to do well in school, graduating with honors in 2010.
After high school Alex attended Walla Walla University, majoring in Communications,
then completed his degree through Temple University in Tokyo, Japan, with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Communications. He never lost that desire to roam around that he had as a child.
After graduation he continued with the trend of being on the move and exploring by
getting a job teaching ESL to young children in Tianjin, China. Teaching ESL was a real passion
of his. Alex moved with his parents to Deer Park, Washington in 2018 and over the years
worked at JC Penney and Marshall’s department stores in Spokane. He eventually moved into
an adult home in Tacoma and then the Tri-cities.
Alex had a zest for life. He loved great food and great music. He also loved growing just
about any plant. He was always saving his seeds, even growing avocados and mangos with
grow lights in his room in Kirkland. He loved animals, especially his rescue cat, Honey, who his
parents still have. Alex was a great listener and cared deeply for every person he came across.
He was a hard worker and always willing to help with whatever needed to be done. He had an
extremely generous spirit.
Alex was always excited to do something that would be active and get him out of the
house. We had so many great times fishing, swimming in Loon and Horseshoe Lakes, doing our
favorite hike up the mountain in Chewelah, and even winter hikes in the snow. He was always
up for an adventure.
Alex was greatly loved and is missed by his parents, Jim and Karen, his sister Erin, his
brother Matthew and sister-in-law Marisa. His family will never forget him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 18th, 2026 at Heritage Funeral & Cremation located at 508 N Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224. Service will begin at 1:00PM and will be followed by a reception. The service will be livestreamed - please click the button below to view the service.
