Alice Leona (Essex) Danielson Obituary
Alice passed peacefully surrounded by her family after a long struggle with Parkinsons Disease on the morning of May 24th. She was born in Conrad, MT and grew up in Cut Bank, MT. She was a true Montana girl at heart! After high school graduation, she moved to Spokane to attend business school at Kinman.
She married Franklin Danielson in 1957. He was an engineer for the Washington Water Power Company. In 1959, they had a daughter Anita and a son Brian in 1961. Franklin was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in 1967. With 2 small children to raise, Alice decided to go back to school. She graduated with honors with a degree in education from EWU with an emphasis in Fine Art and Reading.
She taught for many years in the West Valley School District at Orchard Center Elementary. After retirement, she moved to Snohomish to be closer to family and her beloved grandsons. In fact, she began substitute teaching at their elementary school and was fondly referred to as Grandma Alice.
Mom was an incredibly talented woman. She was an artist in many mediums and her love of learning and travel took her to all but one continent. She was an honorable woman who lived an honorable life and instilled these values to those closest to her. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank, parents Evan and Lucille, sister Mary Lou and granddaughter Katie. She is survived by her children, Anita Danielson Snohomish, Brian (Diane) Danielson Snohomish, grandsons, Nick (Kathryn) Danielson - Cedar Falls, Iowa, Loren (Maria) Danielson Vacaville, California as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 12:30 pm at Riverside Memorial Park, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to either Cottey College which is supported and owned by P.E.O. (an organization that works to further the education of women) or the National Parkinsons Foundation.
