August 09, 1918 - June 24, 2011

Alice (McLagan) Vaughan Obituary (Age 92) Alice died Friday, June 24 at her residence. Alice Muriel McLagan was born August 9, 1918 to George and Mable (Jackson) McLagan in Craigmont, ID. She graduated class valedictorian from her high school at the age of 16. As a child of the Depression, there wasn't additional money for her to continue her schooling and she made her way to Boise where she secured a job with the State of Idaho as a stenographer. While working in Boise, she met and fell in love with Tim M. Vaughan. They were married February 1, 1941. Alice was a gifted pianist and an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She loved to read, play bridge and garden. Alice and Tim spent many happy hours out of doors fishing, camping, playing golf and walking the Pacific coast beaches. She was a devout and lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. Alice was preceded in death by her older sister, Carolyn Wilson. She is survived by her husband of 70 years; son Michael (Deborah) Vaughan of Talkeetna, Alaska; daughter Jane (John) Rehms of Green Bluff; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one nephew and one niece. She loved them all unconditionally. A family graveside service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park later this week. We would like to thank Hospice of Spokane and all the Arbor House caregivers; especially Virginia, Michael, Wendy, Whitney, Josie and Debbie for their loving attention and care for Alice during her residence with them. No flowers, please. Donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
