November 12, 1910 - May 08, 2011

Alice R. Toth Obituary CENTENARIAN Alice was born November 12, 1910 to Cordella and Wade Kelly in Springfield, MO, she passed away May 8, 2011 in Spokane. Her family and siblings moved to Deep Gulch, outside Spokane when she was six. Her parents and several siblings died in less than a year, leaving her and a sister orphans. The two sisters were adopted by the O'Connell family. She changed her name from Oma Kelly to Alice O'Connell, as Alice in Wonderland was the only story she knew. Alice grew up in the Spokane area; she often spoke of the dances she attended at the Natatoriam Park. In June 1934 she married the love of her life Mike Toth. They were married for more than 50 years before he passed away. Alice worked for many years as a floor person at Kress Dime Store. She and Mike decided to become small business owners in 1948 and they left Spokane. They owned their own business until the mid 80's when they retired. Alice became the primary caregiver for Mike as he battled cancer, and then for her sister before her passing. She was an avid golfer for many years, playing at Indian Canyon Golf Course with her husband. One of her greatest joys was crocheting, and making afghans with great skill at the age of 99. Most of her projects were donated to charities. Alice celebrated her 100th birthday last November with her family and her friends from Emily Court Assisted Living. At her party she was surprised with 100 roses given to her by her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters Carol Palmer, Aberdeen, WA, and Pat Jungers (Jim) Spokane, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. We wish to thank Dr. Floyd and his staff, the staff of Emily Court and Hospice of Spokane for the kind care they gave Alice. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at
