Alma H. Snyder Obituary (Age 86) Alma was born June 18, 1927 in Vincennes, IN to Eric W. and Alma I. Domroese. She passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at home, in Spokane, WA. Alma attended Concordia Teacher?s College (now Concordia University) in River Forest, IL. She served as secretary to professor Richard Caemmerer, Sr. at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, and was a kindergarten teacher in Lutheran parochial schools in Kansas City, Hobart and Ft. Wayne, IN for several years before marrying Milton B. Snyder on November 27, 1965 in Seymour, IN. After marrying, she lived in Columbus, Indiana and Tulsa, OK before moving to Spokane in 1980. While making a home for her husband and daughter, Christine, Alma continued to educate young people through teaching Sunday School. Inspired by a lifelong love of sacred choral music, Alma sang alto in numerous church, college, and seminary choirs. She was a longtime member of the Spokane chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), and a member of St. Mark?s Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, served as church music librarian, was involved in a number of women?s groups, and enjoyed welcoming new members. Alma was an avid reader, and served on the library committee in the Rockwood Retirement Community, where she lived for the last 13 years. Alma is survived by husband Milton of Spokane, daughter Christine of Albuquerque, NM, brothers Ken Domroese and Eric (Patty) Domroese, brothers-in-law Ronald (Eunice) Snyder and John (Ginny) Snyder, 17 nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Alma. A service in celebration of Alma?s life in Christ and His church will be held at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave, Spokane, WA on Saturday, October 12 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to ?Music at St Mark?s?, St. Mark?s Lutheran Church at the address listed above.
